Synopsis

“Anno 79: La distruzione di Ercolano” is an epic spectacle by director and screenwriter Gianfranco Parolini, in which Pula replaces Rome. The plot depicts the eruption of Vesuvius and the destruction of Herculaneum in 79 AD. The film combines drama and spectacle set in authentic sets. The story begins when the tribune Marcus Tiberius meets the beautiful slave girl Livia at the imperial court in the city of Herculaneum. Their happiness is soon interrupted by plots and war preparations. It all culminates with the eruption of Vesuvius. The megalomaniac production was compared to the epic “Ben Hur”.
