Sveti Lovreč, located in the west of the Istrian peninsula, is one of the best-preserved medieval fortified towns in Istria. The settlement was named after the 8th-century church of St. Lawrence, while the Romanesque bell tower was added to it in the 9th century and is located in the local cemetery near the settlement.
