Synopsis

“Belo se pere na devetdeset” is a Slovenian feature film directed by Marko Naberšnik, based on an autobiographic novel by Bronja Žakelj. It is an intimate story about a girl Bronja, who was growing up in Ljubljana during the 1980s. With the loss of her mother, the death of her brother, her own battle with lymphoma, and the death of her grandmother, Bronja’s story, although marked by tragedies, is one of resilience, love, and hope. The film was shot in Slovenia, Italy and Croatia, and the script was written by Marko Naberšnik and Bronja Žakelj. The novel received the Kresnik award and was translated into multiple languages, and the film adaptation brings the emotional authenticity and a universal message about strength of a woman in the face of setbacks.
