Bale, a small town of enchanting architecture, is located near the sea, in the southwest of Istria. The most significant building, the Soardo-Bembo castle, stands out for the beauty of its Gothic-Renaissance facade. The city loggia, the Praetorian Palace, and the remains of towers, walls, and gates also date from the Middle Ages. The parish church was built in 1880.
