Boljun is a small town in northeastern Istria, below which lies the vast Boljunsko Polje, and was founded alongside a medieval castle above the fertile Boljunčica valley. This place, "neither a city nor a village", reached its peak between the 15th and 17th centuries, and elected its own prefects. Thanks to its preserved heritage, it is listed in the Register of Cultural Property.
