Synopsis
“Crossing” is a feature film début directed by Jacqueline Van Vugt. It brings three intertwined stories of passengers on a ferry from Morocco to Spain, imbued with themes of loss, hope, and belonging. Interestingly, the ferry was partly constructed on a set in Zagreb to depict the impression of an enclosed space in the middle of the sea. Although the story is set between the shores of Africa and Europe, the locations in Croatia provided an authentic visual experience of a sea journey, restlessness and desire.
