Synopsis
“Marinai senza stelle” by Francesco De Robertisis the first archived feature film filmed in Istria (Fažana). The filming started in 1943 as a fascist propaganda film, but it was interrupted due to the Italian capitulation. After the war, it was adapted to new circumstances: the dialogues, enemies, and ending were changed to suit democratic Italy. It was premiered in 1949 and it calls for peace. The film features scenes from the ports of Fažana and Trieste, as well as naval action. The film stars Antonio Gandusio, a famous theater and film actor from Rovinj, after whom the Rovinj cinema has been named Teatro Gandusio since 1925.
