Rabac is the most important tourist center on the eastern coast of the Istrian peninsula, and is also known by the nickname "the pearl of Kvarner". The beautiful surroundings, beautiful pebble beach, pleasant climate and view of the Kvarner Bay have attracted hikers and travel writers since the mid-19th century, when Rabac was just a small fishing village.
