Synopsis
The Winnetou trilogy was filmed in 2015 in Croatia as a remake of the famous German films from the 1960s, based on the novels by Karl May. Due to pristine nature and impressive landscapes, the locations in Istria and Lika, on Učka and Velebit successfully replaced the Wild West. A large number of extras were hired. A functional two-car steam locomotive was also used, “reviving” the Lupoglav - Štalija railway and contributed to the authenticity of the travel scenes.
